important.
I will let you know if I discover anything.
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the fact that Vetinari owns and uses a mug with the slogan ‘To the world’s Greatest Boss’?
- who the heck gave it to him
- who the heck had the GUTS to give that to him
- (was it Drumknott)
- …did he buy it for himself
- for that matter, let’s think about the fact that he actually USES it
Amen to that.
Stephen Fry, the closest thing there is to a deity in my life.
i wish more people would understand this.
he’s an atheist, which is weird because i often think he may be a god.
I’m glad someone else has said this. Someone people listen to.
“Where’s your bride?”
“Mary? Oh, she’s not my bride.”
“What?”
“No, she’s just a friend. A good friend, mind you, but no more than that.”
“What are you talking about? You’re marrying her in a little less than half an hour.”
“I don’t think so.”
“Have you hit your head?”
“Nope.”
“You’re serious?”
“I’m dead serious.”
“Then why on earth have we gone through this rigmarole?”
“Got you here, didn’t it? And wearing a TIE, no less.”
“Of course I’m wearing a tie - I thought you were getting married today!”
“Oh, I am.”
“What?”
“Or at least, I hope to be.”
“You are making no sense whatsoever.”
“I know how you feel about me.”
“No you don’t. How do you?”
“Suspected soon after you came back, actually. But I couldn’t be sure until I saw your face when I said I was leaving.”
“So this whole thing has been… what? Punishment?”
“Would you rather I’d punched you?”
“You did punch me!”
“Well, you deserved it.”
“And did I deserve this? To have to stand here and watch while you… Oh.”
“Oh?”
“You’re not marrying Mary?”
“I’m really not.”
“But you are getting married.”
“Well, that rather depends.”
“On?”
“On whether or not you’ll have me.”
“…”
“Sherlock?”
“But… One can’t just turn up in front of a vicar and get married, John. There are formalities…”
“It’s amazing what you can arrange when the British government owes you a favour.”
“But… Me?”
“Of course you.”
“But we’re not… I’ve never even…”
“If you want me. So do you, Sherlock? Do you want to marry me?”
.
.
“I do.”
Oh my GOD, Owen.
It entertains me that their organization was not even remotely secret. I imagine the locals all rolling their eyes whenever the team runs past, because it’s like when your kids are playing spy games and they’re being ‘sneaky’ and you have to pretend you can’t see them.
Whenever something really weird happens you just wander down to the docks, position yourself in front of a hidden camera, and sigh loudly. “Oh my, I sure hope that freaky alien-looking thing doesn’t eat my family. Boy, I wish there were someone around who could take care of that for me.”
And then you piss off and get lunch while they handle it, so you can avoid getting roofied.
And then you remember this little gem
“Excuse me… Have you seen a blowfish driving a sports car?”
*points*”Bloody Torchwood!”
Alright, with that the course of my day is set. I am going to listen to And One and cry for the rest of the day.
snow-blind replied to your post: I think I’m going to cry. And One are breaking up.
-feels bad because she has never heard of them-
They had a big hit in 2006 that was in the charts, ‘So klingt Liebe’, but apart from that they are one of the most famous/popular bands in the Dark Wave/Electro/EBM scene and have been for the past 25 years.
And One. The best, most successful and one of the first German Electro bands. 25 years of German music history.
They’re having a last tour in Fall and then they’ll disband.
And the closest they’ll come to me on their last tour is Munich, which is 300km from here. Why are you doing this to me?
Why are all the great bands I love breaking up?
I have the feeling that I am missing out on every important event in my personal music environment by not being able to afford to go to concerts and festivals.
I missed Abney Park’s first and maybe only concert in Germany.
I missed NamNamBulu’s Reunion Concert.
I will miss And One’s Farewell Tour.
I will miss Samsas Traum return to the stage after years of not playing concerts.
I’ve been missing Disco Ensemble’s yearly fall concert in Stuttgart for years.
I missed the few concerts The XX had in Germany because they were too far away and too expensive.
I am missing every great festival with great line-ups ever and I have a feeling by the time I’ll earn enough money to afford them, all the bands I live will have broken up.
This is too much for me to deal with right now.
And One has always been a constant in German music history, they shaped Dark Wave and Electro Pop. How am I to cope without them?
